I have loved model trains since I was a small boy. I am not entirely sure how old I was when I first got a model trainset but I was pretty young and played with it for hours and I loved it.

As I grew older I continued to add to my model trains layout but I got to a point where I was out with friends more than at home and the model trains got put away in storage and must have eventually been thrown out.

Recently I came across a website talking about building the ultimate model train layout and it connected with something in my heart. It is amazing how things that happened in our childhood can still affect us many years on and I find I still have a special enthusiasm for model train layouts. I want one.

So now I am embarking on a new hobby. I will use this guide to building model train layouts to encourage me to develop something I am going to be so proud of and I look forward to introducing my kids to this magnificent hobby of model trains.
